Beekeeping Info

At this point, this is just some random links with a few comments. There is nothing new or original here. This is more of a shared resource while we study up on beekeeping. We are planning to start a beehive on our property this year. Hopefully we'll be collecting a feral swarm of local bees. We plan to raise them naturally. I hesitate to use the word "organic" because that word is overloaded with government regulations these days.

The Bush Farms site has a lot of interesting info. This article on foundationless beekeeping was particulary interesting to me.

Here is the first article I found on using top bar hives in 3rd world countries.

Here is a site on sustainable beekeeping with top bar hives - this was linked to by the Wikipedia article on beehives. I think we should use normal framed hives, btw, not top bar hives. I linked these here because this top bar design is part of what makes me comfortable with the idea of using foundationless frames.
